Episode 6

Ethelyn Carroll began her career with the State of Michigan in the Employment Insurance office, then later transferred to the Human Services department and became an intake supervisor. She changed careers and became a licensed insurance agent with the Auto Club Group. Then she later owned and operated her own insurance agency specializing in writing commercial insurance. Currently, Ethelyn serves in the community where she was born as president of the United Block Club Council in Midwest Tireman on the Old West Side. The council holds monthly meetings to make residents aware of resources and grants available to them. It has contracted and picked up tires in the neighborhood, cleaned up lots and alleys, demolished houses, and partnered with commercial business owners.

Ethelyn is a board member with My Community Speaks to help cultivate LaNita's Memorial Garden and the brick memorial walkway. She serves on the Helping Operations for People Empowerment (H.O.P.E) board, which has adult literacy, returning citizen support, and a diaper program. She is also part of a steering committee to establish the Midwest Community Business Association for businesses in Midwest Tireman. Ethelyn received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Human Resources from Central Michigan University.
