City of Detroit offices at Coleman A. Young Municipal Center to close during the 2024 NFL Draft

As a result of street closures and parking restrictions related to the NFL Draft in downtown Detroit, many City of Detroit departments located in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (CAYMC) will be closed for in-person visits. However, staff will work remotely and be available to assist customers from April 22 - 26. 

 

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer 

All OCFO public-facing offices will assist customers by remote ONLY via telephone and/or email and online.

Department of Appeals and Hearings

During that week, only in-person Department of Appeals and Hearings (DAH) services in Suite 124 will be suspended. Operations will not be impacted, and the public can continue to interact with us through the following methods:

  • Payment Methods: Credit Card or eCheck/ACH.  Please note there is a fee to pay online; there is no fee to pay over the telephone with a live DAH agent (see below).

Kiosk:

  • Payment Methods: Cash, eCheck/ACH, or credit card. Please note there is a fee to pay using a credit or debit card; there is no fee to pay in cash or check at the kiosk or over the telephone with a live DAH agent (see below).
  • Please note the DivDat kiosk located in CAYMC will be inaccessible during the building closure.

Department of Public Works

The Department of Public Works (DPW) CAYMC offices will be closed, however customer service lines will be open. Garbage pick-up will NOT be affected by the NFL Draft or office closings. For more information, go to the DPW webpage here.

 

Civil Rights, Inclusion, & Opportunity Department

CRIO offices in CAYMC will be closed, but operations will continue. Personnel can be reached by normal communications. For information is available on the CRIO webpage here.

 

Planning & Development Department

The Planning and Development Department (including the Historic District Commission staff) will be available in-person on Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23. From April 24-26, the PDD's office will be closed, but staff will be available by phone at (313) 224-1339.

 

Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department

The Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED) offices will be closed to the public from April 22-26. All electronic and online services are offered 24/7 via ACCELA.

BSEED Emergencies
During this time, individuals may call BSEED at (313) 628-2451 in case of an emergency, such as no heat or power or to report water or sewage in the basement.

Detroit Water and Sewerage Department

For water and sewer account and reporting water/sewer emergencies, residents may contact DWSD Customer Service is (313) 267-8000 and detroitmi.gov/DWSD, as well as pay their water and sewer bill online or using a DivDat kiosk.

General Services Department
