Your home could be taken from you if you have not paid your 2003 or prior years property taxes. You must act before
March 31, 2007, to keep your property! Options to keep your property are:
1. Pay your outstanding taxes immediately at the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office (313) 224-5990.
The deadline to pay is March 31, 2007.
2. File a hardship extension at the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office.
3. File a probate action with Wayne County Probate Court if the property owner is deceased, a minor heir, or mentally incompetent.
IF YOU FAIL TO MAKE PAYMENT OR OBTAIN AN EXTENSION
OF TIME TO PAY, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR HOME.
The court hearing regarding Wayne County tax foreclosures is Thursday, February 15,
2007, before Chief Judge Mary Beth Kelley, at the Third Circuit Court, 2 Woodward Avenue, 7th Floor. If your taxes remain unpaid as of February 15th your home is subject to a judgment of foreclosure at this hearing. If this happens, the
Wayne County Treasurer will own your home after March 31, 2007!
