The following ordinances are currently being developed by Council President Ken Cockrel, Jr. for introduction in the summer of 2007

"Anti-Profiling Ordinance- this new ordinance prohibiting profiling on the basis of race, immigration status, national origin, religious beliefs, physical appearance, sexual orientation, and manner of dress will prevent police officers and other City employees from discriminating against people in Detroit based upon those factors."

President Cockrel is in the process of amending Chapter 3 of the Detroit City Code, Advertising and Signs to give the Detroit Police Department and the Building and Safety Engineering Department greater latitude to prosecute and fine persons that place illegal signs on city property.  Illegal signs are blight, contribute to urban decay and are undesirable to members of the community.  This new amendment seeks to make placing illegal signs up a blight violation.
