Review, Change, Improve and Approve the City Budget

 

Review and Approve contracts submitted by the Mayor, and the Mayor’s Departments to insure the contracts are fairly distributed

 

Work to attract new entertainment venues, program for the arts and youth oriented entertainment activities

 

Review and Approve the sale or disposition of City property

 

Review and Approve settlement of civil litigation involving the City of Detroit

 

Review the pattern of litigation involving the City of Detroit to implement changes which will result in fewer cases of litigation

 

Review and Approve development agreements

 

Review complaints and petitions from the public regarding City operations and departments

 

Develop Programs to increase home ownership for single parent and low income residents

 

Review and Approve requests for rezoning of property

 

Work to implement free or validated parking downtown and implement relaxed parking for retail and residential areas

 

Develop initiatives to recognize Detroit’s heritage including entertainers, sports figures and everyday people who have made a difference in our Great City

 

Initiate projects that encourage cooperation between Detroit and the surrounding suburbs helping to encourage revenue between the City and it’s suburbs

To provide Leadership to maintain essential quality services that meet the collective basic needs of the citizens of Detroit created and designed in response to the needs of its citizens rather than by tradition or habit.  To identify and seize opportunities for a higher quality of life, increase tourism to bring in income, and create more youth oriented initiatives.
