Detroit City Council President Pro Tempore Monica
Conyers worked tirelessly to convince the Kilpatrick administration and council
colleagues that a water affordability plan was essential and a necessary
component to any water rate hike.
“City of Detroit
leadership must provide water to those that simply cannot pay their water
bills. We cannot isolate the plight of the poor from a water
rate increase that is mandated by the reality that we must continuously improve
the infrastructure of the Detroit water system to comply with a federal court
order,” said Conyers.
Please stay in touch and know that Councilwoman Conyers will
fight to keep water affordable for all while maintaining the fiscal integrity
of the water system.
