Youth ages 14 to 18 are targeted for this program.
It focuses on service and service learning activities to engage high school students in service projects during after school.
The expected outcome is for youth to have an impact on their own communities.
Clark Park in Southwest Detroit provides year round programming for more than 1,200 youth.
It operates the only regulation-sized outdoor ice hockey rink in Metro Detroit.
Free lunch is provided daily to more than 100 youth throughout the summer.
ICYG is for ages 6 to 17. Program activities include:
Health and wellness
Financial literacy and money management
Community service projects
Feeding the homeless
as well as developing and painting a mural.
Teen HYPE is a year round program (September-August) that helps young people build life skills.
The summer session will focus on soft skills and leadership development though paid summer internships and community service.
Youth may apply beginning in May 2015 for membership beginning September 2015.
YPM has a youth-driven process where young people come together to discuss issues, and understand the issue through research and meetings. YPM allows
youth to develop solutions and campaigns as one community, then implement their ideas with the support of adult volunteers. The plan becomes
a reality through partnerships with community organizations.
