May is Motor City Makeover Month. This year, more than ever, the City of Detroit needs volunteers to clean up and beautify Detroit.

CLEANING THE CITY BY SECTORS

The city will be cleaned in the sectors listed on the following days:

Sector MapSaturday, May 3 - Sectors 1, 2 and 3

Saturday, May 10 - Sectors 7, 8, 9 and 10

Saturday, May 17 - Sectors 4, 5 and 6

INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS MUST REGISTER

This year, individuals and community groups must register with the City of Detroit to get information on where to drop off their bagged litter on their designated Saturday, not later than 3 p.m.  The City will only pick up bagged litter in these designated locations.  There will be NO CURBSIDE PICKUP of bagged litter.

In addition, Motor City Makeover volunteers may take bagged litter to any of the six drop-off locations.

ROLL-OFF CONTAINERS FOR GROUPS
Community groups also may request a roll-off container to handle large cleanups.  However, the City will survey the area first before granting a request for a roll-off container. Call your local Neighborhood City Hall.

Individuals or groups that leave bagged litter in locations NOT designated by the City of Detroit may be fined for illegal dumping.  Illegal dumping is a crime.

For more information, call (313) 224-4415 or your local Neighborhood City Hall.
