This year, individuals and community groups must register with the City of Detroit Recreation Department Office of Community Affairs in order to receive a limited supply of bags and gloves.
RESIDENTS, BUSINESS OWNERS, CHURCHES,
BLOCK CLUBS AND SCHOOLS:
Here’s what you can do.
• If you plan on joining in the beautification effort, click here to register
call (313) 224-3450 to register.
• Beautify the area around your home, business, church or school on the Saturday
designated for your sector. See the map to determine your sector’s date
• Organize your neighborhood or your employees (if you own a business) for a massive
group cleanup. You can select a nearby area or call (313) 224-3450 or your local
Recreation Community Affairs Office for a recommended location.
• Beautify your area by planting flowers, plants or trees and by removing graffiti, etc.
PICKUP OF BAGGED LITTER
When you register with the City of Detroit, you also will receive information regarding special pickups of bagged litter. There will be NO CURBSIDE PICKUP of bagged litter.
In addition, volunteers may take bagged litter to any of the five drop-off locations. Individuals or groups that leave bagged litter in locations NOT designated by the City of Detroit may be fined for illegal dumping, which is a crime. Violators may have their vehicles impounded and are subject to fines up to $10,000.
