This year, individuals and community groups must register with the City of Detroit Department of Neighborhoods in order to receive a limited supply of bags, gloves and water.
RESIDENTS, BUSINESS OWNERS, CHURCHES,
BLOCK CLUBS AND SCHOOLS:
Here’s what you can do.
• If you plan on joining in the beautification effort, call (313) 224-4415 to register.
• Beautify the area around your home, business, church or school on the Saturday
designated for your district.
• Organize your neighborhood or your employees (if you own a business) for a massive
group cleanup. You can select a nearby area or call (313) 224-4415.
• Beautify your area by planting flowers, plants or trees and by removing graffiti, etc.
PICKUP OF BAGGED LITTER
When you register with the City of Detroit, you also will receive information regarding special pickups of bagged litter. There will be NO CURBSIDE PICKUP of bagged litter.
In addition, volunteers may take bagged litter to any of the five drop-off locations. Individuals or groups that leave bagged litter in locations NOT designated by the City of Detroit may be fined for illegal dumping, which is a crime. Violators may have their vehicles impounded and are subject to fines up to $10,000.
