If you would like to invite Mayor Bing to an event your organization is hosting, please submit your request in writing with complete event details: date, time, place, organizational information and the requested participation of Mayor Bing. Please direct your correspondence to:

REQUEST A CEREMONIAL DOCUMENT
The City of Detroit will consider requests for proclamations, letters and certificates for any group or individual that has a connection to the City of Detroit. Requests for ceremonial documents must be received in writing addressed to the attention of Mayor Dave Bing and received 30 days prior to the event date. All requests will be evaluated through an internal review and approval process. The Mayor’s Office reserves the right to determine the type of document to be issued. Please direct your correspondence to ATTN: Mayor Bing – Ceremonial Documents by mail, fax or e-mail.
Information required: Requestors should indicate the title or nature of the event, the specific date, a brief history of the organization or a biographical outline of the person, and any other pertinent information including an address for the letter. Submitting a draft of the document desired will expedite the process considerably.
Types of Ceremonial Documents:
Letters
Letters of Welcome may be issued for the following:
• Conferences, conventions or seminars
• Sporting events
• New residents
• Dignitaries
• Prominent individuals
Proclamations
Proclamations may be issued for the following:
• Issues with widespread community interest
• Significant community based events
• Significant anniversaries of City of Detroit based institutions, corporations, community partners, and non-profit organizations
Certificates
• Professional or community celebrations
• Special events sponsored by community partners
• Significant birthdays or marriage anniversaries
