What is WIC?
WIC is a special, supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children

What does WIC Provide?
WIC Provides:
- Supplemental nutrition
- Nutrition education
- Breastfeeding support
- Referral services – including referrals for lead testing, immunizations, MIHP, and other important services

Who is eligible to receive WIC?
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding (up to one year after child birth) or postpartum (up to 6 months after child birth)
- Infants
- Children ages 1-5 years

How do I know if my children and/or I qualify for WIC?
- Do you live in Michigan?
- Do you meet the income guidelines?
(if you are currently receiving Medicaid or SNAP (food stamps), you are income eligible for WIC)
 

  

What if I don’t have any income?
Give us a call at (313) 876-4555 and we can help you decide if you need to bring any proof of income with you

There are many WIC clinics in the City of Detroit. When you call the appointment center, staff will help you to locate the clinic most convenient for you

What should I bring to my first
appointment?
Please bring:
- ID (driver’s license, Medicaid card, birth certificate, social security card, work ID card, student ID, etc.)
- Proof of income (1-2 current paystubs, W-2, etc) OR your Medicaid card
- Your child OR proof you are currently pregnant (note from your doctor, ultrasound picture, etc)
- Your child’s immunization record

You may be eligible to receive WIC benefits without bringing one or more of these items, but it makes certification easier for everyone if you have them with you!

What do I do if my WIC Bridge Card was lost or stolen?
Call customer service at (888) 678-8914 or (800) 649-3777
- Select the "WIC" option.
- Wait for approximately one minute.
- Select the "lost or stolen card" option.
