Please review in advance the requirements, supporting documentation, etc. necessary to obtain a license and/or registration. All requirements must be met prior to paying fees to obtain the licenses and/or registration. 

Trade/Occupational License Testing
BSEED Examination Section is responsible for testing for business and occupational licenses relating to the operation of boilers, elevators, electrical and refrigeration equipment. Applicants are required to present their most recent original license. If a license is lost or misplaced, valid identification is needed for replacement.

Trade Licenses
An individual must be licensed to perform mechanical, electrical, plumbing work or to perform work related to the operation of boilers and pressure vessels, elevators or refrigeration equipment.

Trade Registrations 
In order to do contracting trade work in the City of Detroit, a business must register/renew annually with the city.
