Former Sears Site Cleanup Grant Project
The Former Sears Site is located at 10750 Grand River within the city of Detroit, Michigan and is bound by Grand River Avenue to the north and Oakman Boulevard to the east. This site was formally used as a Sears Retail Store and Auto Care Center from approximately 1928 to1988. The site became contaminated from historical automotive activities and underground storage tanks (USTs). The USEPA's cleanup grant will be used to clean up the soil contamination, thereby creating a clean site for a commercial/mixed-use development. The proposed remediation includes excavation, removal, and disposal of contaminated soil, and post verification sampling prior to back filling.

Eastern Market Site Assessment Grant Project
The purpose of the Site Assessment Grant project is to conduct environmental site assessment activities within the Eastern Market Project Area, bounded by Mack Avenue (N), Rivard Street (W), St. Aubin (E), and Gratiot (S). Environmental site assessments serve to identify past and present uses and to reveal potential environmental concerns that may inhibit redevelopment. The Detroit Eastern Market has been the central market place to the City of Detroit for over 160 years. Currently, the market is used as wholesale and retail in providing fresh produce, specialty foods, and flowers. The redevelopment plan includes restoring historic details and creating a flexible-use event space that would integrate market sheds, adjacent retail, and residential redevelopment. The proposed site activities include Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Baseline Environmental Assessments, and Section 7a Compliance Analysis.

Below are the various documents related to the implementation of this project.
