The Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED) is the public agency that administers and enforces the Michigan State family of construction and environmental codes, which regulate the construction and alteration of buildings throughout the state.

HARDEST HIT FUNDS

On August 20, 2013, Governor Snyder announced that Detroit will receive $52.2 million of the total sum of Hardest Hit Funds from the United States Department of Treasury for demolition of residential structures in Michigan. The Hardest Hit Fund demolition program is intended to stabilize lower-vacancy neighborhoods and requires public ownership of the structure before it is demolished.
