How do I qualify to become a member of the swim team?
Each swimmer must be able to swim at least 25 yards of the front crawl stroke. We teach and provide corrections for all four competitive strokes (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly).
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to join the swim team or to compete in Detroit Recreation Department Swim Meets, however, there is a cost to participate in Michigan/USA Swimming Swim Meets.
Who do we compete against?
We compete against the many swimmers that participate in teams in Recreation Department swim teams, as well as Michigan/USA Swimming Swim Meets.
Do you travel to out of town swim meets?
Yes, we compete in swim meets throughout the state of Michigan and we annually travel to Washington D.C. and Durham North Carolina to compete.
What have you accomplished as a team?
We have helped to graduate many student athletes from high school and college. We have had All-American swimmers, All-State Swimmers, and public and private school Champions, and more come through our program.

Competitive swimming helps promote healthy living, discipline, self-confidence, and goal setting.
