Notice to Our Valued Customers of an Opportunity to Comment on the Filed Renewable Energy and Energy Optimization Plan

Dear Valued Customer,

The State of Michigan Clean, Renewable, and Efficient Energy Act of 2008 (Public Act 295) requires electric utilities in Michigan to develop and implement plans to:
  • Obtain at least 10% of the electricity furnished to retail customers from renewable energy resources by 2015; and
  • Reduce consumption of electricity by instituting energy optimization measures such as providing incentives to customers to use more energy efficient equipment and devices and instituting other energy conservation measures.
The Detroit Public Lighting Department has developed a proposed Renewable Energy Plan and Energy Optimization Plan as required by the Act, which will be filed with the Michigan Public Service Commission on April 3, 2009 in Case No. U-15857. The Plans may be reviewed at the office of the Public Lighting Department, located at 9449 Grinnell Avenue, Detroit, MI 48213.

Our customers and the public are invited to submit comments on the Plans. Written comments on the proposed Renewable Energy and Energy Optimization Plans may be submitted to: Stanley Topolewski, Interim Director, Public Lighting Department, 9449 Grinnell Avenue, Detroit, MI 48213. Comments submitted to the Department must be received by no later than May 22, 2009. All written comments received by the Department will be compiled and filed with the Michigan Public Service Commission by June 2, 2009.
