Suspect Responsible For Multiple Sexual Assaults

Arrested By Detroit Police

Detroit Police announce the arrest of an individual responsible for multiple cases of Criminal Sexual Contact (CSC) and Home Invasion on the city’s north east side. 29-year-old DeAndre Mullins was arrested on Saturday January 5, 2008 after surveillance video of him attempting to break into a home was broadcast on local news and the suspect’s mother brought him into the Northeastern District to clear up any suspicion of his involvement.

During the course of the investigation, Mullins was identified by all three of his victims as being the perpetrator. He also admitted to being the individual recorded on the surveillance video. In each CSC case, Mullins would illegally gain entry into his victim’s homes during the early morning hours and sexually assault them while wielding a weapon and threatening them to comply.
Said Detroit Police Chief Ella M. Bully-Cummings, “This individual is clearly a danger to society. He would not have stopped until he was forced to do so. Arresting him does not only make the neighborhood he targeted safer, but our entire community should be relieved because crime has no boundaries. Now that he’s in custody, the next step is ensuring that justice prevails as his cases move forward. The victims deserve it.”

The first reported incident occurred on October 27, 2007 with the most recent taking place on December 30, 2007.
In addition to the three confirmed CSC’s, Mullins matches the description of a suspect wanted for one attempted CSC/Home Invasion and one attempted Breaking and Entering. He will face charges in these cases as well.
DeAndre Mullins will be arraigned today during the afternoon arraignments at 36th District Court.
