The above suspects have been arrested for at least (13) armed robberies within the Metropolitan area, with the latest occurring yesterday morning in Detroit. Their spree began in February 2008 at a restaurant located in the 18000 block of Grand River. The Suspects would enter a location, armed with weapons and in some instances fire several shots into the ceiling, and rob the business and customers of their belongings.
The trio would wear a hooded sweatshirt with a built-in mask during their robberies. Their crime spree was ended yesterday following a robbery of a Wendy’s restaurant near Eight Mile and Livernois. An Oakland County Sheriffs Deputy pulled over a vehicle occupied by one of the suspects who had been identified earlier in the week by members of the Detroit Police Armed Robbery Task Force. The other suspects were subsequently arrested. With the arrest of the three individuals we now have in custody, detectives will be able to close eight (8) armed robberies in Detroit, two (2) armed robberies in Oak Park, one (1) armed robbery in Ferndale, one (1) armed robbery in Birmingham, and one (1) armed robbery in Redford.
The masked hooded sweatshirt and the stolen cash were recovered from the suspects. The trio now faces charges of Armed Robbery along with additional felony charges. Andrews, Whitehead and Sampson will be arraigned today, April 14, 2008.
