Man Arrested For Robberies

On May 11, 2008, Detroit Police arrested 25-year-old Charles Brooks, wanted for the robberies of four “dollar store” businesses. His crime partner remains at large. At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers on patrol in the Western District observed a navy blue 1994 GMC Suburban which matched a vehicle the suspects used to flee the crime scenes. The officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle along Elmhurst at the I-96 Freeway Service Drive and after a through investigation arrested Brooks without incident. 

Charles Brooks and his accomplice robbed at least four businesses since 4/26/08 and were captured on tape while committing their crimes. The remaining suspect is described as a black male approximately 6’0 – 6’2 and between 225 - 265 lbs and the vehicle that was used to escape was a dark blue or black 2000 - 2002 Ford Taurus with partial plate of #8561.

Charles Brooks was arraigned in 36th District Court on May 13, 2008 and faces charges of Assault with Intent to commit Robberies Armed, Felon in Possession, Felony Firearms and Habitual 4.  His bond was set at $50,000.00 and with a preliminary exam scheduled for May 27, 2008.
