Suspect Wanted In Brutal Assault Of Toddler ArrestedDetroit Police announce the arrest of 27-year-old Joseph Gray as a result of the numerous anonymous tips received after a surveillance video of Gray was broadcast late Friday night, January 4, 2008. On the video, Gray is seen battering a small child with a series of hand strikes and kicks at a business located in the 14000 block of Fenkell Ave.
Surveillance cameras recorded the abuse that relentlessly took place for nearly 4 minutes. Both the identities of Gray and the child were unknown at the time of the video airing. Hours after the footage aired, the suspect was identified and arrested at a relative’s home located in the 14100 block of Monte Vista on Detroit’s west side.
Some minor bruising was seen on the 2-year-old male toddler (whose identity is being withheld) when he was examined for evidence of abuse. Gray is the boyfriend of the child’s mother. On Sunday, 1.6.08, Joseph Gray was arraigned on two counts of Child Abuse and has a scheduled preliminary exam later this month.
