DETROIT- Detroit Police announce the arrests of Turhan Clay and Anthony Nathaniel Watson along with a 15-year-old juvenile responsible for nine (9) armed robberies, one (1) carjacking, one (1) non-fatal shooting, two (2) unarmed robberies and one (1) robbery attempt.  The first of the multiple crimes linked to the trio occurred on October 18, 2007 when a citizen was robbed by gunpoint in the Eastern District.

The suspects’ four month crime spree came to an end when they were arrested by officers on February 17, 2008 following a traffic stop in the area of Conant and Nevada. Just the day before, they were responsible for committing five armed robberies, one non-fatal shooting and one carjacking in less than a 24-hour period.

In many of the cases, the suspects exited a vehicle, produced handguns, and approached their unsuspecting victims demanding personal items. Several of the victims were also physically assaulted.

After being questioned about the crimes, the suspects confessed and were subsequently identified in a lineup by their victims.

The juvenile was charged with Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm.  Both Clay and Watson have been charged with Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession as well as Felony Firearm and face a preliminary exam on March 25, 2008.
