Register OnlineThis year, City of Detroit officials want Detroit’s Spring Clean Up to be the biggest, best effort ever. The City of Detroit will jump start the effort by removing graffiti, tackling major dump sites, demolishing abandoned homes, cleaning parks and recreation centers and planting trees beginning in March. Then comes the heart of the cleanup: the work of Detroit’s passionate volunteers. From the last weekend in April into May, volunteers will clean and beautify streets and neighborhoods throughout the city. In June, the City will thank its volunteers with special appreciation events.
CLEANING THE CITY BY SECTORSDetroit’s Spring Clean Up is a bagged litter campaign, and the community cleanup will take place by sector on:
Saturday, April 25 — Sectors 1, 2, 9 & 10
Saturday, May 2 — Sectors 3 & 4
Saturday, May 9 —Sectors 5 & 6
Saturday, May 16 — Sectors 7 & 8
Please see the map to identify your sector.
INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS MUST REGISTER This year, individuals and community groups must register with the City of Detroit to get information on where to drop off their bagged litter on their designated Saturday, before 3 p.m. The City will only pick up bagged litter at these locations which are available through Neighborhood City Halls and on the City’s Web site. There will be NO CURBSIDE PICKUP of bagged litter.
In addition, Spring Clean Up volunteers may take bagged litter to any of the five drop-off locations. Individuals or groups that leave bagged litter in locations
NOT designated by the City of Detroit may be fined for illegal dumping. Illegal dumping is a crime. Violators may have their vehicles impounded and are subject to fines up to $10,000.
