Drug Treatment

Coraleen J. Rawls, General Manager    (313) 887-1023

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide comprehensive treatment services to Detroit’s opiate and cocaine addicted population on an as needed basis, and to address the problems associated with addiction in the individual and the community.

SERVICES

In response to the needs of its community, the City of Detroit’s Department of Human Services operates three state-licensed, Joint Commission Accreditation Of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). These are accredited drug treatment clinics with comprehensive services.

The Drug Treatment Division has provided these services to the residents of Detroit since 1970. During this time, thousands of people have been brought back from the despair and hopelessness of addiction to lives of hope and meaning.

Our role is to serve as the "backbone" of our city’s narcotic addiction treatment network. Payment for services may be via Medicaid, on a sliding fee scale or free to those who qualify. Services are provided in a professional and confidential manner.

Specialized care services, in conjunction with substance abuse treatment, for HIV infected patients are available.

To be assessed and referred to the proper facility, a potential patient must first go to the Access, Assessment and Referral Service (AARS) located at Herman Keifer Hospital – Building #1, 1151 Taylor.
