All items Must Be Properly Prepared In Order to Be Recycled:
Tin cans, plastics #1 & #2: rinsed and cleaned, lids removed
Newspapers: tied in bundles or in paper bags
Household Batteries: in plastic bag, clean dry milk or juice jug
Styrofoam: Carryout boxes, packing materials – translucent bags cleaned Only
Glass Containers: separate by color – clear, green and brown
Plastic Grocery Bags: Bags #1, #2 and #4

How to Prepare Items for Recycling
GLASS
1. Wash and rinse thoroughly.
2. Remove caps and lids. Metal ones may be recycled in the metal bin, plastic ones may be recycled with the plastic tops and lids.
3. Separate by color clear, green and brown.
4. Do not mix colored glass with clear glass!
PLASTICS
1. Only HDPE plastic is accepted (milk, juice and detergent containers). Check bottoms of containers for the proper symbol and plastic code.
2. Wash and rinse thoroughly.
3. Lids, tops and spouts must be removed.
4. Crush flat.
PAPER
Tie in bundles with string, or stack neatly in brown paper bags
1. Newsprint, computer /white office paper (no colored ink)
2. Mixed Paper–envelopes, folders, colored, phonebooks
3. Cardboard, paperboard
4. Glossy – magazines, flyers and catalogs
STYROFOAM / ASEPTIC
1. Carry out boxes, packing materials – in translucent bags
2. Orange Juice, Milk, and Soy Milk Containers (Aseptic)
METALS
1. All metals are accepted..
2. Metal food and beverage cans must be washed and rinsed.
3. Remove paper labels.
4. If possible, remove lids and bottoms with a can opener.
5. Crush the cans flat and put the lids and bottoms inside of the flattened cans.

1. Put household batteries in a plastic bag and store in a cool dry ventilated location.
