Department of Environmental Affairs Inspectors enforce City codes 22-2-55 and 22-2-58, which require all commercial businesses within the city of Detroit to have documented proof of collection arrangements with the City of Detroit or a private collection company for solid waste containers and disposal services.
For new commercial refuse accounts or to make changes to existing accounts, business representatives are required to report changes in person to the Contract Administrator in the DPW Administrative office, located in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 2 Woodward Ave., Suite 513, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact the Commercial Account Office at (313) 224-6045 for additional Commercial Account information.
