MEDIA SERVICES
The Media Services department is responsible for the daily programming of mydetroitcable access Channel 10.
As the City of Detroit’s access television provider, Media Services' staff members work closely with the Mayor’s Office, City departments and community organizations to broadcast informative, educational and entertaining programming that is responsive to the diverse communication needs and interests of our citizens.
Media Services also operates as the cable/video franchising authority for the City of Detroit.
The legislative authority for the Media Services' respective responsibilities for the issuance and compliance with cable franchise agreements, and telecommunications permits for access and on-going use of the city's rights-of-way are the Federal Cable Communications Policy Act of 1984, 47 U.S.C. § 521 and Michigan's Metropolitan Extension Telecommunications Rights-of-Way Oversight Act, 2002 PA 48 (METRO Act).
