The mission of the Buildings & Safety Engineering Department is to safeguard public health, safety and welfare by enforcing construction, property maintenance, and zoning codes, which will preserve and enhance property value, and promote a quality of life that encourages the selection of Detroit as the preferred place to reside and conduct business.
