MICHIGAN ARTIST DIRECTORYArtServe Michigan, the state's leading independent arts advocacy and service organization, has launched the Michigan Artist Directory to increase the visibility of Michigan artists and assist them in marketing their work. The Michigan Artist Directory is a comprehensive database of visual artists, poets, musicians, actors, craftspeople and other creatives who live and work in the state. The data is easily sorted to locate specific creative disciplines or regions of the state. The many competitions, corporations and municipalities that contact ArtServe each week in search of artists may now purchase a customized set of mailing labels in order to reach them.
There is no cost for a Michigan artist to register for the Michigan Artist Directory. Artists should call (248) 557-8288 Ext. 14 to receive a registration form through the mail. A statewide drive to locate artists is now underway, in an effort to create the most comprehensive directory possible. A number of cultural organizations throughout the state are collaborating with ArtServe in this effort.
ArtServe Michigan offers several other opportunities to resident artists in all creative disciplines, including the Creative Artist Grant program, the only statewide grant program for individual artists. In its Virtual Gallery at
http://www.artservemichigan.org,Michigan artists who are paid members of ArtServe Michigan may feature their actual works online. ArtServe also offers workshops on grant writing and other topics.
