Press Announcement to Bring Light Rail Transit to Woodward Avenue in Detroit
The City of Detroit, Department of Transportation (DDOT) joined by U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, will announce Light Rail Transit along eight miles of Woodward Avenue from downtown Detroit to Eight Mile Road as the area’s Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) to begin building a regional rapid transit system in the Detroit area. The announcement marks the next phase of the Detroit Transit Options for Growth Study (DTOGS), sponsored by DDOT.
