Registering your property is the first step toward achieving compliance – and is simple and free if you register before the expiration of your current Certificate of Registration. Registration is important, because it allows the City to contact the appropriate owner and make sure notices are sent to the proper address. As a rental property owner in the city of Detroit, you are required to register your property with the City before the property is occupied, and to renew your registration on an annual basis. There are two ways to register your rental property, described below.
